Reviving Praça do Rossio in the Metaverse:

A Milestone in Our Journey

Working on Xtend3D‘s Metaverse project allowed us to recreate the iconic Rossio Square in our city’s heart, Lisbon. This place is naturally special to us and has also become a significant milestone in our journey as 3D artists.
The project was also developed with the collaboration of 3D artist Joana Pinto, who helped us speed up the construction of a project of this scale, with complex stages such as 3D modeling, photorealistic texturing, lighting, interactivity, and rendering.

Our task was, not just to replicate its architectural elements, but also to capture the essence of the place — its soul — so that it could be experienced engagingly and convincingly in a digital format.
To achieve this, we created typical Lisbon scenes and interactive experiences, such as exhibitions in the center of the square and bars fully decorated with traditional Portuguese elements.

It was mainly thanks to this Metaverse that we deepened our knowledge of Unreal Engine. Having to recreate the intricate details and ornaments of historic buildings was not only a challenge but also helped us grow as a team and as 3D artists. It has become the foundation for many other exciting projects to come.
